An uneducated idiot actor who will remain nameless, has advanced the Democrat talking point once again to get rid of the Electoral College. Note, the accent is on the second syllable. There is no “I” in the word. Yes, everyone who puts the accent on the third syllable is mispronouncing it. The fact that almost everyone mispronounces it is the least of its issues. The electoral college and our other checks and balances are absolutely necessary to the survival of this American Republic. Notice I did not say democracy. If we had a pure democracy, by now this country would have long ago descended into absolute chaos and anarchy – sort of the way we see it played out in Democrat controlled cities today. As these cities have flaunted the Federal Laws such as providing unlawful sanctuary for illegals and allowing domestic terrorists to run unabated destroying property and rioting and not only bending the knee literally and figuratively to Marxists and Anarchists – we have seen the result. If this tyranny of the masses led by corrupt one party despots is allowed to spread to the Federal level, this nation will surely be doomed.
The founders studied ancient Rome and Greece where city states that had “pure” democracy inevitably ended in tyranny and anarchy. That is the reason Montesquieu and our founders believed in checks and balances to offset the flaws in “pure” democracy. We have a Republic for a reason, and these ignorant dolts and evil Democrats who want to do away with it simply want power and control. When you get a one party control – look what you get in Democrat controlled cities – chaos, anarchy, and politicians using that anarchy and tyranny to silence and control the people.
I refer you to the Federalist Papers, 10. Madison. To better understand the centuries old English, I suggest a book that converts the language to modern meanings by Mary Webster.
This is a nice summation from a paper from my Alma mater the University of Texas:
“One common objection to the new constitution was that it was a consolidation – a government that nationalized and centralized power – and not a confederation. Opponents charged that the new governmental plan was insufficiently sensitive to history: no centralized republic as large as the United States had ever been stable and successful. Other republics that had grown too large had frequently suffered the fate of Ancient Rome: degeneration into empire and eventual dissolution and destruction. James Madison turned this objection on its head by arguing in his famous essay, Federalist No. 10, that the large extent of the American republic is actually an advantage and not a weakness. The great extent of the country will decrease the change of tyrannous majorities, he maintains, as a greater diversity of interests exist in a large republic than a small one. Moreover, Madison holds that the United States under the Constitution will benefit from the fact that it is a republic and not a direct democracy; this difference allows for the selection of the best leaders from the greatest possible pool of talent and avoids the mob-like mentality that a direct democracy can produce.”1
In simple terms, we must have checks and balances for this Republic to survive. The Marxist push for one party control by so-called progressives gave us the “progressive income tax” and did away with the appointment of senators from their respective states. The 17th Amendment. A pure democracy. Sounded great at the time to the ill-informed, but it is clear that today we have party hacks rather than senators who actually represent the interests of their state. We have in effect “carpetbaggers” who because of their name recognition and popularity, can move to a state and win an election as senator without really having any loyalty or understanding of that state. I give you Hillary Clinton who spent almost all of her life in other states but somehow because she and the former president had a property in New York – it would seem to give her better national recognition for her (fortunately for us, failed) attempt at higher political office. You have Mitt Romney former governor of Massachusetts moving to Utah? You have McCain picking Arizona…and there are many others. Point is, the founders had it right. The states should decide who should be senators, it should not be decided by a popularity contest. I strongly recommend repealling the 17th amendment and have states and their legislators elect/appoint sentators.
Despite the 17th amendment and other similar acts of stupidity, we have managed to keep the essential balance of three co-equal branches of government, but virtually all three have shown gross abuses. FDR stacking the Supreme Court. Multiple presidents issuing unconstitutional executive orders. The supreme court issuing truly horrible rulings – Plessy v Ferguson and Dred Scott come to mind. And the recent House of Representatives abusing the impeachment process for a purely political witch hunt. But, the balance works. All three branches have proven to be run by corrupt men and women, but in the end, they could not achieve the total control and tyranny they desired.
The Electoral College is perhaps the most important check on this tyranny. If large democrat-controlled cities and states were allowed to dictate to the rest of the country and counties, the country would surely not survive. That would mean that essentially 20 or so states would be dictating to the remaining 30 states. A handful of democrat counties would be dictating to about 3000 republican counties. Urban would be dictating to rural. The result is easy to predict.
The Bill of rights has been under a relentless attack by the democrats. Hence why we have a “silent majority”. That silent majority has been intimidated to only speak in the privacy of the polling booth. Doxing. Violent threats. Losing employment are just a few of the methods for silencing honest citizens who dare to speak out or go against their tyrannical orthodoxy. And of course, disarming honest American citizens is the other key right the illiberal locusts of the left want to take away in their quest for absolute power. Eliminate speech, religious freedom and the right to bear arms. They are transparently doing whatever they can to diminish or eliminate our Bill of Rights. And if the electoral college were to be eliminated and the brainwashed urban mob were to rule, the result would be catastrophic, inevitably leading to Civil war and chaos. We have thousands of years of history to prove it. Hence, the reason this woke, cancel culture mob wants to tear down statues, cancel the Bill of Rights, and eliminate history – power, control and tyranny. More than ever we must defend our electoral college and every check we have on the tyranny of those who seek absolute power.
