Just read about the recent divorce soap opera between very wealthy actor Kevin Costner and his wife of nineteen years. Unless she can prove that Costner did something really egregious that forced her to “file” – I think just citing “irreconcilable differences” just ain’t gonna hack it. $30,000 a month credit line not enough for her and the kids. The parasite scum that she has hired need six figures to extort money from ole Kevin. Insult to injury – she’s charging the dirt bag legal fees to him. Don’t get me wrong, I know there are a few honest lawyers and a few honest well meaning politicians, but as a profession I cannot think of one good reason for their existence in the age of AI and Computers. The only thing we would be missing if we let AI and Computers make these legal rulings is the subjectivity and graft that comes with having corrupt judges and lawyers in the process.
I don’t get it? The only real winners in this case are lawyers, but how?
She signed a pre-nup? In my brave new world – one of the first things we do is get rid of lawyers and replace them with AI – a modest fee – and instant ruling. They’d run the numbers and figure out what made sense for her and the kids to live on in the context of the pre-nup. The AI would determine whether there exists a valid reason to give her more than what was stipulated in the pre-nup. Deal done.
In this Brave New World, we can have a few well vetted judges and a SCOTUS but once we get rid of MOST of the lawyers – think how much more productive business and the govt will be! There is a reason we don’t have a flat/fair tax or trials by AI and computers – they both would eliminate the graft of lawyers – and these grifters with law degrees would have to find real jobs. But with AI – there’s going to be very few things except some manual labor that AI can’t do. That could cause some social unrest, so learning to enjoy leisure and finding meaning in non work work is going to be one of the toughest jobs in the mid to late 21st Century. I’m not that worried about climate as the grifters and Marxists in the UN have pushed. Maybe an asteroid might do us in – that’s happened before. Just ask the paleontologists who play with Dinosaur bones for a living. But one real danger is forgetting that Mutual Assured Destruction and NO NUKES is the only answer to preventing nuclear war, and we have a Confederacy of Dunces in the West pushing mini me Stalin to threaten to use nukes in a war in Ukraine that like most wars could and should have been avoided. In the final analysis, if nuclear Armageddon doesn’t end it all, Sci-fi writers and film makers have AI and Robots doing us in. Man in his infinite greed, avarice and bad judgment will likely be the cause of the next mass extinction event. I’d say it’s about 50-50 Man vs. Asteroid. Hopefully for most of us, later rather than sooner.
