At some point, we will achieve 1984’s stated goal of Newspeak to reduce the language to the point where it will be impossible to have controversial ideas or “Thought Crimes”. Therefore, we will control reality and make everyone a good citizen of Oceania. Obviously, showing a cartoon picture of a Chinese man in stereotypical garb is racially insensitive. The books that we allow must be racially sensitive. The good news is that unlike those tyrants in Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451, we don’t burn books, we simply evaporate them. And at some point we will be so advanced we won’t need to print books. We will simply put all acceptable information on your “screen”. But for the criminals that continue to find these outlawed books, we will hunt you down and reeducate you. And it could be a rather long and painful process. Although we are compassionate, make no mistake – for the incorrigibles we will evaporate you if necessary! But for most, like Winston Smith, you will end up loving me for it!
