Good News! Department of Education General Counsel Reed Rubinstein is investigating American Universities in order to discover the unhealthy relationship they have with China and other foreign countries. To those of us with an ounce of common sense and patriotism, it is painfully obvious that the University system in this country is woefully un-American and corrupted by foreign money. Some would say they are simply greedy. I say that the Marxists that infest Universities are also guilty of sedition and treason. The system that allows them to charge ridiculously high tuition and other fees and then have zero responsibility for the enormous student debt that follows is one of the more egregious crimes that these corrupt institutions are allowed to get away with. But allowing enemies – and there can be no doubt after this Wuhan Plague – that China is THE enemy of not just the US but the entire Western Civilization – to steal our technology is nothing short of treason. And like many examples of traitors in the Education establishment that came before them, we have allowed a culture of corruption to flourish in our Universities that not only produces an inferior product, but also allows spies from China (and elsewhere) to infiltrate our universities and steal billions (perhaps trillions in the long run) of dollars’ worth of Intellectual Property. Because now more than ever, our future wealth and survival as a prosperous country will hinge on our DOMINANCE in new technologies like 5G, Artificial Intelligence and other arcane computer technologies. It appears we are either moving too slow or simply allowing the Chinese Communists and others to steal it outright for a few ounces of gelt.
In reality, there are very few undergraduate degrees that actually have monetary value. Business, Accounting, Engineering, Sciences maybe a few others. Hmmm. That’s about it. Yes, there are a few technical degrees that may actually give real benefit, but in the end, social science and “liberal arts” are simply nice to have, a real benefit for the idle rich or for those of us happy to make little more than minimum wage in a job that requires double digit IQ points less than that person’s capability – and as a training degree, not worth much to most companies. Having said that, there are many very bright liberal arts grads who work their way into decent or even high paying jobs, but be clear, the result had very little to do with their college degree program. They learned computer programs and applications and wowed someone in the interview process, and yes, having the degree, no matter how worthless, at least demonstrated that they have the ability to learn and to be trained. And that is what happens. Lots of companies spend a very large amount on training.
A simple answer to the imbalance in student loan debt is to make universities on the hook for the loans. Watch the admission numbers fall. Watch worthless tenured professors fail to be rehired. Watch real reform. And it is past time that K-12 stop with the ridiculous notion that a college degree is the path to success for all Americans. Students without beneficial college degrees should be trained on manual jobs like plumbing or carpentry which will always be in demand, and technical equipment and specialties – and not be forced into college programs wasting time with such worthless programs as Liberal Arts. As someone who has both a Liberal Arts degree and MBA, I speak for myself that I learned more about great literature and history on my own after I left school. Reform is necessary and the entire education establishment must be unlocked from its unholy relationship with the Democrat party (worth a book not just a blog to explain). And sedition and treason must be punished and purged from academia – one traitor at a time.
