A recent article in Yahoo finance – hardly a conservative site – chronicles that the states of California and New York are the land of the Flee with people moving to Texas and Florida, etc. land of the Free. The Yahoo’s report: “The shift to suburban and small-town living was already happening, but the pandemic sped it up. Rents are rising and inventory is dwindling in small towns. In Henderson, Nevada, asking rent for a one-bedroom climbed 5.4% in July from June, and in Tulsa, Okla. one-bedroom asking rent increased 5.1% in July, according to Zumper, a San Francisco-based rental listing website. Meanwhile, rents are coming down and vacancies are piling up in big cities like New York. San Francisco asking rent dropped 3.3% from March to July, and New York asking rent dropped 2.8% from March to July, according to Zumper.”
I wonder what the rental price in downtown Portland looks like today after nearly 3 months of non-stop rioting and looting?
Pandemic. Shmandemic. Scamdemic. We know the real reason that MORE folks are leaving these cities – not just because of the economic benefit, but for safety. Democrat Mayors and Governors have shown that they are quite willing to see their cities burn to the ground if they think it will help their political cause. But some of us think that it is all backfiring on them. Sane people, even democrats, at some point realize that Law and Order “Trumps” Democrat Socialist ideology. Pun intended. If you can’t be safe in your home, then even democrats run for the hills.
