Brandon is no longer a victim. He has used his mind to walkaway from the Brainwashing of the Far Left. He mistakenly calls them “liberal” – which is a key part of the problem. He realized like many who have left the Democrat Party and the illiberal left, that the Democrat “tribe” no longer represented him. He realized that the hate, the bile, the lies and the violence were spewing from the far left, what I call the illiberal locusts of the left.
It took him some time to realize that Trump and the Conservative movement in America are NOT racists. They are NOT homophobic. In fact, the very principles that America’s founders called “Liberal” would now be considered conservative. Bertrand Russell, a very left leaning but highly intelligent and honest philosopher and winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature – stated it quite nicely in his monumental work – A History of Western Philosophy pg. 597 Touchstone edition: “Early Liberalism was a product of England and Holland and had certain well-marked characteristics. It stood for religious toleration; it was Protestant, but of a latitudinarian rather than of a fanatical kind; it regarded the wars of religion silly. It valued commerce and industry, and favoured the rising middle class rather than the monarchy and the aristocracy; it had immense respect for the rights of property, especially when accumulated by the labours of the individual possessor…Implicitly, the tendency of early liberalism was toward democracy tempered by the rights of property…There was a certain bias against government, because governments almost everywhere were in the hands of kings or aristocracies, who seldom either understood or respected the needs of the merchants…” To paraphrase, Russell essentially made the observation that the English and Dutch who founded America were essentially the “merchant” class who distrusted Monarchs and big government, who were tolerant Protestants who believed in God and natural law and individual liberty. Yes, these people were called “liberals”. Today, modern so-called “liberals” believe the opposite. Though some hide behind religion, most are secularists or atheists who believe in Big Govt to solve all problems in society. Like so much associated with the illiberal left, they abuse the language. They are not liberal, they are illiberal. Their progressive ways allows them to use tactics of the Bolsheviks and the modern version – Alinsky and his rules for radicals. Their “progressivism” becomes regressive. They do not believe in individual rights. They believe in the almighty state and ultimately this vision has invariably led to tyrants like Mao, Stalin, Pol Pot and millions of deaths and monumental suffering.
I know why this former victim has walked away from the Democrat Party. The Democrat Party is not liberal. The Democrat Party is illiberal. The Democrat Party will lead us on the road to serfdom and all the suffering and death associated with the tyrannical illiberal left.
