Facts are woefully absent in today’s highly charged political climate. So, I had to check for myself. Yes, Tucker’s folks got the numbers right on the percentage power generated by windmills in the Texas power grid. Straight from the ERCOT website. Not Wiki. Not the NY Times. Not MSLSD. Not the biased media. Here’s the graphic:
| wind % total | |||
| Energy, GWh | Jan | Total | |
| Biomass | 15 | 15 | |
| Coal | 6,803 | 6,803 | |
| Gas | 934 | 934 | |
| Gas-CC | 10,744 | 10,744 | |
| Hydro | 36 | 36 | |
| Nuclear | 3,801 | 3,801 | |
| Other | -2 | -2 | |
| Solar | 732 | 732 | |
| Wind | 7,702 | 7,702 | 25.04% |
| Total | 30,766 | 30,766 |
If you go onto the Google left wing green controlled Internet and try to find a picture of the frozen windmills, you will have a difficult time trying to find one. What you will find is the one story that used a Swedish frozen windmill. See, the Right wingers are a bunch of liars! But the facts are 25% of the Texas grid comes from wind. The windmills did in fact freeze. Some say that because of high winds, the ones that were working still produced offset. The real problem came from thermal offline. The left argues that the natural gas plants – thermal ones – lost more power than the frozen wind turbines. I found no evidence of this, but I’ll stand corrected if someone will actually document it from a reputable source.
So, I am confused. A couple of issues. Texas could have built more nuclear power plants (that are properly weatherized) and fossil fuel plants (properly weatherized) but took the subsidies for the windmills. Some folks made some deals. The second screw up was not anticipating unusual freezing weather – the way those folks up north deal with windmills by weatherizing them – the few places that have them (don’t expect them off Martha’s Vineyard where Obama, Kerry and the Ruling Elite of the illiberal left play). In places like NY, you won’t find more than 5% of their grid on solar or wind. Yep, these are facts. Google and their co-conspirators will hide the pictures and make sure that the first 20 stories you read about the disaster is that windmills were not to blame. That in fact, it was a lack of green energy that caused the disaster. Huh? No logic. But who needs logic and reason when you own the media?
