W.C. Fields’ famous quote about what he’d put on his tombstone fits the dark comedy of our age. Based on the evidence of his actual grave marker, we don’t have that tombstone, but I’m sure it would be more appropriate than simply William Claude Dukenfield, or as shown below: W.C. Fields – 1880 – 1946.

He lived through the Great Depression, WWI, WWII and was famous for playing a “misanthropic” drunk who hated dogs and children in movies. Yet, he somehow got people to laugh, and despite this very dark persona, became one of the great comedians of all times.
Today, we have American Democrat controlled cities (name one in the top 10 of cities with high crime and murder rate that is controlled by a Republican or Independent) with out of control crime and murder.
