Elon is a mixed bag. Musk has a mixed scent, if you get my drift. If successful in acquiring Twitter (I still think the illiberal left, Marxists, and Globalists will shut him down), and he makes good on his claim to open up conversation to end the overt censorship of opposing views to the Establishment, and make the 1st Amendment viable again, he still shows us what’s wrong with simple Libertarians. In a recent move, Musk calmed down the woke lefties in his organization by saying that he would cover travel costs for those poor women in states where abortions were limited to those states where they are not.
Not to get too philosophical here but I’ve always had a problem with the notion of Utilitarianism where the highest good is that which is the greatest good for the most people. All you have to do in the abortion issue is to simply deny the life of the being inside the womb and it becomes an easy rationalization to commit murder in the womb and call it the greatest good for the many – the mothers who may be inconvenienced by the time and expense of taking care of a baby.
This is a moral call between “happiness” of the mother and the “happiness” of an unborn. One has a voice, the other does not. Morality in my mind sides with those without a voice. Hence we must speak for them. We must speak for slaves and we must speak for the unborn, or we fail as being truly human, we become animals, simple hedonists – lying to ourselves that the greatest good comes from accommodating mothers wanting to end the life of their unborn baby, thereby insuring the “happiness” of the mother. This is what is morally wrong with Utilitarianism. This is what is morally wrong with those fanatics that gave us Roe – women must have unlimited rights to murder their unborn. The Constitution with the 9th and 10th amendments are clear that the states or the people, not the Federal Govt should be making that decision for their people. But for the real diehard right to lifer, there almost isn’t any justification for ending a baby’s life in the womb. To some that might be extreme. After all, what about the health of the mother or incest? Yes, I think it is still a moral judgement call to allow abortions for those types of cases. But the death cult of the illiberal left won a victory in 1973 with the unconstitutional Roe v. Wade – and now, if Roe is overturned, we at least will be abiding by our Constitution – if not being moral by the absolutists point of view. Like other immoral supreme court decisions – Dred Scott, Plessy – over time, the Scotus eventually corrected some really bad decisions. Roe is simply the most egregiously bad of all Scotus decisions because to date 62,000,000 lives have been sacrificed. Although slavery, segregation are evil. Legalizing murder trumps them them all.
