You folks should be very careful about following the herd backing BLM. This group was not just founded by admitted Marxists, its funding is controlled by a convicted Domestic Terrorist Susan Rosenberg who was serving a lengthy prison term for bombings which killed police officers until she was pardoned by Bill Clinton on his last day in office. Her connection is this: Susan Rosenberg has served as vice chair of the board of directors for Thousand Currents, an organization that provides fundraising and fiscal sponsorship for the Black Lives Matter Global Movement. She was an active member of revolutionary left-wing movements whose illegal activities included bombing U.S. government buildings and committing armed robberies.
It is also true if you actually look at stats, that black lives were saved by Rudy Giuliani’s policy of stop and frisk (which has been singled out as “discriminatory”) – where the murder rate in NYC dropped from over 2000 under previous dem mayors (including black mayor Dinkins) to UNDER 300 per year. Now under DeBlasio and a disrespect for and move to de-fund police, murder rate is once again skyrocketing. And yes, 80% of the murders in NY are minorities/blacks murdering other blacks/minorities.
The riots were a planned action not a spontaneous occurrence because one rotten cop killed a career criminal. BLM and Antifa are nothing more than anarchists and domestic terrorists – and by co-opting the name “black lives” they have hoodwinked many folks who don’t have the courage to confront them. In this election year, virtually everything is political. And it is sad to see so many organizations bend the knee to anarchists and domestic terrorists because they are too cowardly to blame the real reason for the number of black lives murdered…black boys in homes without fathers (about 75% of black babies are born out of wedlock), and what is worse, black boys end up being raised by street thugs and drug dealers. That’s the reason that about 6% of the population (black men) commit 33% of ALL murders and 50% of ALL burglaries in the US.
This whole thing is getting to be absurd. The black population of SF is about 5%. That’s part of the issue. Maybe the city could make it easier for Blacks to live in the city. Reach out to Oakland or other Bay Area cities with a larger black population. But my guess is that nothing will actually increase black membership any more than you will see more white men start for an NBA basketball team. I’ll be for quotas at the Dolphin Club when we have quotas for white guys in the NBA. The whole notion of diversity at a Club that has been open to EVERYONE since women were first admitted in the 70s is absurd.
Systematic Racism? Only Orwell could come up with a term like this. It’s been over 150 years since we fought a Civil War that freed slaves and gave them citizenship. The 60s Civil Rights Act desegregated the south and affirmative action has given blacks opportunities that did not exist when the country still had pockets of racism. But if you’re going to use the term “systematic racism”, you need to define it in terms of things like a black President of the US, and number of blacks in positions of power. As I stated above, the real problem is the black family and the welfare state. Those things that were “systematic racism” have long been gone, but race baiting and using race for political opportunism is very much alive today. The Democrats, the party of slavery and segregation, somehow has become the party that most blacks vote for it seems simply because a Democrat was in office when the Civil Rights Act was passed. If there is something “systematic” it is the fact that the Democrats welfare and social policies encouraging destruction of the black family has been pretty systematic. It has worked for the Dems politically, routinely getting 90% of the vote. Right now, the only race that can be singled out and routinely disparaged are whites. No one should ever be judged by the color of their skin. Something none of us can control. MLK talked in his great speech about judging a man by the content of their character and not the color of their skin. BLM, their followers, and those that bend the knee and capitulate are the ones judging people by the color of their skins and clearly they are the “racists” of today.

Supported by the rising awareness among our members of racial inequities in our society and our collective responsibility toward justice, we know we can do better. We pledge to be a Club built on dignity and diversity. This is a long-term effort, involving all members working together. It will require a review of Club policies and practices, and increased accountability for personal behaviors. We have an opportunity to do more across the Aquatic Park community, within an overall ethos of inclusion, and especially for Bay Area youth who otherwise would not get to participate in the things we know and love- swimming, rowing and handball. We are listening to our members, with particular attention to voices previously unheard or ignored. As we explore how best to improve awareness and accountability, and assure safety, we have learned that not all Club members are aware of the avenues available to express grievances and achieve redress. The focus of House Committees has been violations of rules regarding boats and swims, brought to the attention of the President, and carried out through creation of ad hoc House Committees to hear all sides; we will assure that cultural issues can also be heard and acted upon in this venue. Additional support may be developed through a team of peers prior to House Committee involvement – with a goal of resolving differences closest to when and where they happen and assuring conclusive outcomes. We recognize that creating a more inclusive community calls on us to examine our culture as individuals and as a community, and to welcome new voices. To that end, groups are being created to support education and self-reflection on race. Groups will also lead the effort for more diverse images on our walls, website and media, and they will help the Club develop an environment that welcomes and sustains a more diverse membership. A Diversity, Equity & Inclusion group is being explored to support the Board in the ongoing work of ensuring our Club policies and practices reflect our values of inclusiveness. The health and future of the Club require us to support a more inclusive society, while continuing to celebrate our legacy. All members are invited to participate in this membership-led effort toward more inclusive structures and outcomes, whether in the small or large groups. We anticipate inclusion and anti-racism to be at the top of the list of priorities in our collaborations with the South End Rowing Club, the City, the Port, US Rowing, US Masters Swimming, and our other partners. Our President was asked by the media what brought her to the June 19th Swim Out in Solidarity event at Aquatic Park. She said: “I’m here as an ally, committed to listening and learning, and doing what I can to quell the reverberations of systemic racism in our corner of the world. Black Lives Matters has opened up avenues for change in each of us. I am here today to celebrate this moment when hope and history join, and I look forward to better days ahead.” The Dolphin Club Board of Directors, and its Club members, are putting a plan in place to assure that those better, more welcoming, more inclusive days are ahead.
