Mexifornia has a nasty little proposition on the November ballot that is scary to the folks already being taxed into oblivion holding on by their finger nails to the property they own. Many decades ago, the wise folks in California passed Proposition 13 that kept their property taxes at an affordable level by capping what the profligate spenders in Sacramento could charge residential property owners.
Of course, this NEW property tax Proposition on the November 2020 ballot doesn’t say “The Repeal of Prop 13 Act”, its for “education” and the “children” don’t you know. And at this time, it doesn’t go directly after residential property owners – only Commercial Property owners, but to anyone who knows how these slime ball bureaucrats work, it is the first step, the slippery slope to repealing Prop 13. This proposition has at least 3 problems: 1. It will once again put a burden on small businesses owners (actually anyone who owns a commercial property) – which means they either leave the state or fire employees to pay the tax, 2. Trojan Horse, to set up the next round to expand it to residential, 3. as someone who has worked as a sub in Bay Area schools – the schools don’t need more money – they need to have more choice, more charter schools, vouchers, anything to lessen the power of the corrupt teachers unions – all things that will IMPROVE schools for Students – not be a gravy train for mediocre teachers and waste and corruption and the unholy relationship between the teachers unions and the Democrat Party.
It is a simple fact, that one of the reasons that the illiberal left in the Democrat party wants open borders is because Hispanics are popping out babies like tasty bread and the indigenous population is either aging or simply not having children. So even in places like Marin county that is 90% lily white, many schools and hence teachers’ jobs are kept open by allowing illegals and other minorities to be bused in or herded into ghettos like the Canal District in San Rafael. And since they don’t speak English, there is a great need for bilingual speakers, counselors, teachers, bus drivers, etc. and someone needs to pay for it – since most of these illegals pay ZERO tax – so to pay for it – let’s make sure YOU pay for it with a new burdensome tax! Any way you look at it – VOTE NO on The California Schools and Local Communities Funding Act of 2020 – side note: what the schools really need at Middle, High school, Jr. college and college level is more technical and blue collar skill training – not more classes like “minority transgender non-binary women’s studies”… And yes, getting rid of sanctuary cities, and deporting illegals and a border wall will all help. Buy don’t expect the Democrat Party and their largest donor, the teachers’ unions to support that idea.
