Had to laugh. SF Gate which publishes articles for the lefties who used to buy the SF Comical, had an Orwellian take on Twitter’s new competition – Parler:
“Fear and loathing are apt descriptors for the site, where the rancor of the far-right thrives. Beneath the thin guise of the app’s self-proclaimed emphasis on “free speech” lies the ability to say not just a hypothetical “anything,” but specifically to share racist slurs and violent threats toward political opponents. On Parler, Nazi imagery flourishes, death threats abound, and conspiracy theories reign.”
So, let’s get this straight. Twitter (like the other social media darlings of the illiberal left, Facebook, Google/youtube, etc.) routinely censor everything that criticizes the Dems, the Commies in China, Joe and Camel-a – because you see – everything that disagrees with their Globalist Socialist Dogma is HATE speech. So even if you publish actual documents and testimony that prove that Joe conspired with Hunter and other family members to extort millions from China, Ukraine and other nations while Joe was VP, that has to be censored. But for 4 years, Twitter, Fakebook etc. has had no problem with unsupported lies about Trump and Russia, Ukraine, etc. However, if Parler actually allows even those you disagree with to post – what the 1st Amendment enshrines – they’re called Racists or Nazis. There they go. Bringing up the Nazi or Hitler thing again.
Yes, no doubt some idiot posted a 45 that resembles a Nazi swastika. Hate speech. Maybe. But should it be censored. Unless, actually calling for violence or the equivalent of yelling “fire” in a crowded theater, I don’t think so. And yes, I’m Jewish. I’m still looking for that call to violence. And yes, I would argue that calls to violence should be censored – but other than the swastika looking 45, I saw no evidence.
As those of us who actually believe and abide by the Constitution, the 1st Amendment was designed to protect speech you disagree with, not just the speech you like. Funny, illiberal lefties have no problem with idiots burning the flag or non stop hate of Trump, but anything that criticizes them, they censor that and call it “hate speech”. So, who determines this hate speech at places like Facebook? Originally, it was their own internal left-wing whack jobs. Now they have a panel of 40 from EU socialist left attempting to give them credibility. You know, the kind of folks that Merkel who cut her chops at the ex-Stasi East German secret police – not to be confused with Nazi – would approve of.
My biggest laugh was the comment that Parler was nothing more than an “Echo Chamber”. That is a perfect description for not only these left-wing social media sites – especially after they CENSOR all opposing viewpoints – but virtually the entire Media monopoly, the Democrat controlled state run schools, the Marxist Universities, etc. As I and other brilliant observers like Tucker Carlson have said many times, anything they accuse Conservatives of doing you can be sure they are guilty of that exact thing.
