When I look at social media – whether it is X, Fakebook, or Yahoo where I have email – I can’t help but notice that the far left that just got annihilated in the 2024 elections has not learned a thing.
After the sweat shirt wearing comic from Ukraine came to the Oval to insult Trump – the brainwashed TDS crowd cheered. But what are they cheering for? If Trump wants peace – he must be stopped? That’s what they want?

They roll out that absurd phrase “Putin’s puppet” when the facts are that after 30 million dollars wasted with the Mueller investigation – there was no there there. But we did find out that Hillary and the DNC did in fact hire a British spy with ties to Russia to give false information about Trump before her losing campaign. No, it didn’t work to get her the battleground states she needed to win, but the lying MSM still pushes the Russia Hoax lie and the illiberal locusts of the left continue to repeat this garbage.
So, here we are. The illiberal left and their entrenched bureaucracy is so angry and quite frankly insane, they are willing to risk WW3 with Russia rather than get a peace accord.
I conclude that a great deal of the problem is pure ignorance of history that reminds me of Orwell’s 1984 Newspeak. If you remember, Newspeak ignores history – and hence history is what the leaders put in the News today. You don’t really need to be a Russian history scholar to do a bit of digging to understand Putin and Russia’s motive for invading Ukraine.
For those who think Russia will simply give up a territory they think is theirs need to remember the European conqueror Napoleon and his fate after his failed invasion of 1812. From History.com:
During the opening months of the invasion, Napoleon was forced to contend with a bitter Russian army in perpetual retreat. Refusing to engage Napoleon’s superior army in a full-scale confrontation, the Russians under General Mikhail Kutuzov burned everything behind them as they retreated deeper and deeper into Russia. On September 7, the indecisive Battle of Borodino was fought, in which both sides suffered terrible losses. On September 14, Napoleon arrived in Moscow intending to find supplies but instead found almost the entire population evacuated, and the Russian army retreated again. Early the next morning, fires broke across the city set by Russian patriots, and the Grande Grande Armée’s winter quarters were destroyed. After waiting a month for a surrender that never came, Napoleon, faced with the onset of the Russian winter, was forced to order his starving army out of Moscow.
During the disastrous retreat, Napoleon’s army suffered continual harassment from a suddenly aggressive and merciless Russian army. Stalked by hunger and the deadly lances of the Cossacks, the decimated army reached the Berezina River late in November but found its route blocked by the Russians. On November 26, Napoleon forced a way across at Studienka, and when the bulk of his army passed the river three days later, he was forced to burn his makeshift bridges behind him, stranding some 10,000 stragglers on the other side. From there, the retreat became a rout, and on December 8 Napoleon left what remained of his army to return to Paris with a few cohorts. Six days later, the Grande Armée finally escaped Russia, having suffered a loss of more than 400,000 men during the disastrous invasion.
One other historical event of the 19th century – the Crimean War – where the French, Brits, and Ottoman Muslim Turks took on Russia for claim to Crimea – again didn’t end well for the “invaders”. Eventually, Britain withdrew and Crimea once again became part of mother Russia.
During the Russian Revolution, the Crimean peninsula was a key player in the final overthrow of the Czars and the emergence of the Bolsheviks and Communists to complete control of Russia. It was during this time that Ukraine was established and for years after a bloody war continued between the Bolsheviks and the “anti-Bolshevik white army”.
Crimea changed hands numerous times and was for a time a stronghold of the anti-Bolshevik white army. It was in Crimea that the White Russians made their last stand in 1920. When resistance was crushed, many of the anti-Bolshevik fighters and civilians escaped to Istanbul. Approximately 50,000 White prisoners of war and civilians were summarily executed by shooting or hanging after the defeat at the end of 1920.
In the 30s, Stalin decided to privatize all farms in Ukraine. When the farmers revolted – he simply starved millions of Ukrainians until they capitulated. Not a nice guy. And we can see why Ukraine – the non Russian part of the country – has no love lost for Russia.
During WW2, about 20 million Russians died fighting the Nazis and was the key reason the Nazis were defeated. Yes, D day and the other allies helped – but it was not even close in the numbers of Russians that were lost to defeat Nazi Germany. And after the war, Stalin annexed all of eastern Europe and half of Germany.
After the fall of the Berlin Wall – yes, most of the satellite Eastern European states joined NATO and eventually became EU members. But there were four former states that remained “independent”. Ukraine – being the largest and most prosperous – was the ONE former Soviet State the Russians most coveted.
Today, the idiots that post on social media do not have much understanding of the historical context of what is going on and why Putin and Russia invaded Ukraine. They were never going to let the EU and NATO control Ukraine or Crimea – especially in the historical context of how Russia has been repeatedly threatened by Europe. Let that sink in. Our orientation during the “cold war” was to make Russia out to be the existential boogey man and indeed with nukes from US and Russia pointed at each other – the cold war was a scary time. But we in the West lost sight of what it looked like from the Russian point of view – and how many times European Countries threatened their very existence!
To think that by simply funding the few million Ukrainians that remained after the invasion with billions of dollars and advanced weapons will defeat Russia is pure insanity and ignorance of history. And if you have spent time seeing what is taught in both K-12 and Universities in America – you will realize that the vast majority of theses kids are woefully ignorant of history – or have been brainwashed to a very different interpretation of the events than the ones I just presented. Hence, it is clear why they are such useful idiots of the Deep State Bureaucracy Trump is trying to dismantle.
Maybe Trump can do his thing and stop the needless war in Ukraine – but the long term goal has to be to revise the brainwashing that occurs in our corrupt educational institutions. Social media is indeed a curse and as demonstrated by the cartoon at the top should only be accessed by brains fully matured and not brainwashed. But that is an impossible goal given the present corrupt system of Education and Media indoctrination. Getting rid of the Federal Dept. of Education and returning focus to the states is a start – but that is just the tip of the iceberg of what’s needed given the cancer of misinformation and propaganda that resides in this dystopian Orwellian country of ours.
